Students seek veterans' names

The Student Leadership In Civics Club from Dallas Senior High School is in the process of completing the Veterans' Honor Wall at the high school and is seeking names of veterans who have graduated from the Back Mountain area and who have received a Gold Star and/or Purple Heart award.

One-room reunion set for today

Students who attended one-room schoolhouses in Jackson Township will hold their reunion today, Aug. 12 at the home of Rev. Tom and Sandy Morris, 229 Jackson Church Road, Shavertown. A covered dish dinner will be held at 1 p.m.


Students who attended Ceasetown, Oakdale, Rome, Hillside and Mountain schools are invited to attend.

LL Theater Camp

Lake-Lehman High School Theatre Camp will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 13-17 in the Lake-Lehman High School theater for students in grades two through eight.


The camp offers two levels of instruction for beginners or experienced.

Dallas marching band camp slated

Marching band camp will be held Aug. 13-24 at the Dallas High School.


Any student in grades seven through 12 at Dallas is invited to join.

MU plans Open House for adults

The Misericordia University Admissions Department will hold an open house for adult learners interested in continuing their education from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 14 in Huntzinger Room 218 of Sandy and Marlene Insalaco Hall located on the upper campus.


Appointments can be made for Adult Learner Night, but registration is not necessary. For more information, contact the Admissions Office at 674-6791.


DHS class of 1982 plans reunion

Dallas High School Class of will hold its 30th anniversary reunion on Aug. 18 at The Checkerboard Pavilion.


Anyone interested in attending is asked to contact Holly and Jim Daubert at [email protected].


MU plans open house for students

Misericordia University invites high school students and their parents to an open house from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Aug. 18 on the Back Mountain campus. Registration begins at 9 a.m. in the Anderson Sports and Health Center.


A special "Meet the Coaches" session will be held from 9 to 10 a.m.


The schedule includes refreshments, campus tours, a faculty session over lunch, and meetings with representatives of student services, athletics and financial aid.


For those interested, a session will also be held on the university's Alternative Learner's Project for students with learning disabilities.

MU students present project on WVIA

The Misericordia University Department of Psychology is presenting "The Voices Project: Disability," a unique staged reading of memoirs that promote understanding through the eyes of people with disabilities, their parents and children at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 18 in the Sordoni Theater at WVIA studios.


The event is free and open to the public. Reservations are requested and can be made by calling WVIA at 602-1150 or emailing [email protected].


LHS reunion set

The Luzerne High School All-Class Reunion will be held from 1 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 26 at the Checkerboard Pavilion, Carverton Road, Trucksville.


Checks should be made payable to "Luzerne High Reunion" and mailed to Bernie Luksic, 106 E. Franklin St., Shavertown, PA 18708 by Aug. 15.


DHS Class of 2002 plans reunion

The Dallas High School Class of 2002 will hold its 10th anniversary class reunion from 6 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 29 at the Metro Bar & Grill in Dallas. Cost is $15 per person with an adult guest welcome and includes heavy hors d'oeuvres and a cash bar.
