Mohegan Sun Arena, WBS Penguins to aid Superstorm Sandy victims

The Community FoodBank of New Jersey is currently distributing over 100,000 pounds of food daily to families affected by Sandy. They have been working closely with New Jersey Voluntary Organization Active in Disaster, the Red Cross, and the Salvation Army to respond to the needs of the many New Jersey residents who have been affected by the devastation.
The Community FoodBank of New Jersey is seeking donations of the following items only:
Meals in a can, canned tuna, peanut butter, protein bars, canned rruits, canned vegetables, canned Soup, shelf-stable milk, cereal, diapers, and baby food (no glass jars).
On Friday, Nov. 16, fans attending the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins game against the Bridgeport Sound Tigers will be able to drop off items from the list above as they enter the venue for the game. Doors open at 6 p.m. and anyone attending the game must have a ticket to gain entry. The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins are offering fans a special ticket package for this game that includes admission to the game, a hat, popcorn, and a drink. Four dollars from each ticket package will be donated to the FoodBank.

Mohegan Sun Arena will accept donated items from the general public from the above list of items on Saturday, Nov. 17, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the East Gate Entrance at Mohegan Sun Arena in Wilkes-Barre Township. Volunteer members of the arena's Community Outreach Group will be on site to collect the donated goods and will deliver all items from both collections to the FoodBank's main location in Hillside, N.J., the week of Nov. 19.
