DALLAS TWP.– Dallas Township recently returned to work on a long-term plan it had abandoned several years earlier.
In September, the township resumed work on its comprehensive plan, and has hosted two public visioning meetings so far. The meetings give the public the chance to suggest how they would like to see the township develop in coming years.
It's how we envision Dallas Township in 10 years, Township Supervisor Liz Martin said of the plan.
The township plans to host regular visioning meetings on the last Monday of every month in 2013, with the exception of May. The next visioning meeting will be at 7 p.m. Jan. 28 at the township municipal building, 2919 Route 309.
Four committees have already been organized to focus on housing, open-space preservation, housing issues and oil and gas development.
The township began developing its comprehensive plan in the 2008, after declining to participate in the comprehensive planning process undertaken by the Back Mountain Council of Governments.
The township would abandon those plans soon after, however, leaving the township without a long-term development plan. Last year, the township decided to take up the task again.
