Rep. Karen Boback (R-Columbia/Luzerne/Wyoming) encourages area students interested in pursuing environmental and conservation careers to apply for the Exploring Careers Outdoors (ECO) Camp administered by the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR).

The free program accommodates 20 to 25 students in grades 10-12. Applications for the six-day camp are due by April 1. The overnight camp begins on Sunday, July 8 at Kirby Episcopal House and Chapel in Glen Summit.

Participants will take part in wildlife conservation projects, stream sampling, team-building experiences and other skill-building activities. Campers also will meet conservation professionals and learn about environmental career opportunities. Professional staff from DCNR, including state parks, geology and forestry experts, act as camp counselors.

Participants are selected by committee based on their application, an essay and recommendations.
