Logan Cywinski ran for 199 yards and three touchdowns Aug. 25 but it was not enough to get Tunkhannock through opening night of the high school football season.

Eric Jeffries ran for 214 yards and two touchdowns to lead Nanticoke to a 33-21 victory under its new lights in an inter-divisional game between Wyoming Valley Conference teams.

Cywinski had touchdown runs of 7 and 44 yards in the first two quarters to create ties at 7-7 and 14-14. He scored again on a 3-yarder with 1:45 left in the game after Nanticoke had run off 19 straight points.

Dallas dropped just nine games in 12 sets while sweeping Hanover Area Tuesday in a WVC match.

Mikayla Reynolds and Sarah Stallard, at the first two singles spots, and Elizabeth Mead-Hailey Sobocinski, at second doubles, dropped just one game each. Hannah Gildea and Autumn McCrum-Rayna Swida also won in straight sets.
