Julia Christian broke through at the 17:18 mark of the first half to give the Blue Knights a hard-fought win at Dallas. Alex Wesneski set up the score. Alexis Sokach made seven saves for the shutout.

Melinda Ratchford made 12 stops for the Mountaineers, who held the Knights to one shot in the first half.

Hannah Bonk won the No. 1 singles match for Dallas, and the Mountaineers’ Emily Heltzel and Mikayla Renolds won the No. 1 doubles.

Berwick held on for a close win in the first game before earning a 27-25, 25-19, 25-17 sweep of Dallas on Friday in WVC girls volleyball play.

Caitlyn Pike (13 assists, seven service points, two aces), Gianna Musto (six kills, two blocks, five service points, two aces) and Megan Sebastianelli (five digs, five service points and one ace) topped Dallas.

Berwick was dominant for the second consecutive week, jumping on Dallas quickly for a 42-0 win in a Wyoming Valley Conference Division 4A game.

Northwest 33,

Lake-Lehman 13

Lake-Lehman got a huge play when Josh Durling blocked a punt, picked up the ball and returned it 24 yards for the score, giving the Knights a one-point lead with 10 minutes left.

Rangers quarterback David Piestrak led the Rangers on a 78-yard drive – capped off by a 9-yard score to give Northwest the lead. The team punched in two more touchdowns in the final five minutes in a 33-13 victory Friday night.

GAR 1

Clovis da Luz led Lake-Lehman with two goals and an assist for a 4-1 win over GAR.

Mackenzie Love scored five straight first-half goals and added a sixth to close out the Black Knights’ victory.

Chloe Weaver and Hallie Jenkins each scored twice.

Lake-Lehman’s Adam Motovidlak shot a low score of 40, but MMI Prep overcame it with George Palermo’s 43 and scores of 44 by Eric Degenhart and Jessica McClellan to pull out the victory.
