Bishop Hoban sophomore Kyle Flemings drained an 18-footer with three seconds remaining to life the Argents to an 83-82 win over Dallas that ended the hopes of a Mountaineer WVC Division 2 championship.
Dallas senior Matt Wilson hit a three as time expired in the fourth quarter to send the game into overtime. Brad Fagula scored 12 of his 16 points in the fourth quarter. Robbie Meyers finished the game with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Wilson and Ryan Nemetz each had 10 points.
Against the top team in the Wyoming Valley Conference, Dallas’ boys basketball team fell to Meyers, 72-57. The Mohawks held a slim 29-26 lead at halftime.
Ted Jackson finished the game with a team-high 14 points. Ed Thomas chipped in with 13 points, while Jason Pieczynski and JP Kosgrove each had 10 points. Rich Klick had eight points.
Lake-Lehman’s chances at a Wyoming Valley Conference wrestling championship were dashed with an upset loss at the hands of Hanover Area, 29-29.
Picking up wins for the Black Knights were: Jeff Austin (105), Smith (126), Guzenski (132) and Norm Clancy (138). Ed Strattford, wrestling at 185 pounds, kept Lake-Lehman in it with a decision win.
The Lake-Lehman junior high wrestling team won its first Wyoming Valley Junior High Wrestling League championship by taking down Meyers, 51-23.
The Knights improved to 9-0 after the win. Bill Rundle, Tom Tranell and Bud Hennebaul closed out the regular season unbeaten.
