Back Mountain basketball, wrestling teams will compete in holiday tournaments

High school basketball and wrestling teams will keep busy during the holiday break, concentrating on tournament action before moving into league play after the New Year.

The Tunkhannock boys basketball team will play in the Forest City Rotary Tournament Wednesday and Saturday, Dec. 23 and 26.

The Dallas girls basketball team will be in the Judy Knorr Tournament at Berwick Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 28-29.

Both the Lake-Lehman boys and girls basketball teams are in tournaments Monday and Wednesday, Dec. 28 and 30.

The boys are in the McGrane Tournament at the Wilkes-Barre Catholic Youth Center. The girls are in the Pittston Area Holiday Tournament.

The Dallas boys will be home Dec. 28 against Wyoming Area in the second annual Backyard Brawl Rivalry Game.

All three schools will have their wrestling teams in two-day tournaments Tuesday and Wednesday, Dec. 29-30.

Lake-Lehman will join Dallas in the Conestoga Valley Tournament, which had a strong 25-team field last year.

The Tigers will host the Tunkhannock Kiwanis Wrestling Tournament, the area’s longest-running, two-day event.
