DALLAS TWP. – Ruth’s Chris Steak House and its franchisee Metz Culinary Management are pleased to present the inaugural Ruth’s Chris Golf Classic on Monday, Oct. 23 at the Huntsville Golf Club, Shavertown.

The tournament will begin with a 10:30 a.m. shotgun start and will conclude with a celebratory reception and awards presentation at Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse, Mohegan Sun Casino, Plains Twp.

Proceeds from the tournament will benefit Dinners for Kids and the expanded program that addresses food insecurity for students in the Wyoming Valley West and Dallas school districts.

The Dinners for Kids Program was established by David and Edna Tevet, former owners of Ollie’s Restaurant, Edwardsville. The couple initially provided the food for the program while volunteers delivered six free, nutritionally balanced meals weekly throughout the year to 40 school-aged children in need in the West Side communities of the Wyoming Valley West School District.

The program expanded in 2016 when Misericordia University social work students, along with members of the school’s Campus Ministry partnered with the Dallas School District to deliver meals to in-need students residing in the Back Mountain. During the expansion, Misericordia’s on-site dining partner, Metz Culinary Management, prepared meals. Today, the Back Mountain program serves 30 children in nine families. The program delivered about 7,800 meals in its first year and expects to surpass that total in 2017.
