Sunshine will lead to rain and thunderstorms as the week comes to an end, the National Weather Service indicates.

According to the NWS, the temperature was 66 degrees as of 7 a.m. at the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport, with fair skies reported.

Mostly sunny skies are expected today with a high of 84. A chance of thunderstorms will follow into early Friday morning before 4 a.m., with a low around 68.

The rain will follow into Friday before 11 a.m., otherwise the skies should be cloudy, with a high near 85. A quarter-to-half inch of rain is expected.

Showers and thunderstorms will continue into Friday night, with a low around 67.

Saturday will be partly sunny with a high near 82, and a less than 50 percent chance of rain. Saturday night will be partly cloudy with a low in the mid-50s.
