A slight chance of rain and thunderstorms will return to the Wyoming Valley as the weekend approaches.

The National Weather Service indicated it was 55 degrees as of 6:54 a.m. at the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport, and fair skies were reported.

Sunny skies are expected today, with a high near 88. Partly cloudy skies will follow into tonight, with a low around 66.

Patchy fog is possible before 7 a.m. Thursday, with mostly sunny skies expected throughout the day. The high will be near 90.

Thursday night will bring partly cloudy skies, along with a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms. The low will be around 67.

Mostly sunny skies will round out the week on Friday, along with a slight chance of showers. The high will be near 81.

Partly cloudy skies will follow into Friday night, along with a slight chance of showers before 9 p.m. The low will be around 52.
