The forecast for the weekend calls for a mixed bag, with sunny skies and warm temperatures today with a chance of showers and thunderstorms on Sunday for the Wyoming Valley.

The National Weather Service indicated it was 73 degrees as of 8:54 a.m. at the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport, with fair conditions reported.

Today is expected to be mostly sunny, with a high near 87. Tonight calls for partly cloudy skies, with a low around 69.

Sunday’s forecast includes scattered showers and thunderstorms, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after noon. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds and heavy rain. High near 80. South winds will range between 9 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90 percent.

The same conditions continue into Sunday night with showers and thunderstorms likely before 10 p.m., then isolated showers between 10 p.m. and 1 a.m. Cloudy, then gradually becoming partly cloudy, with a low around 61.

Sunny skies return on Monday with high expected to be near 76. Monday night calls for mostly clear skies with a low around 51.
