Thunderstorms are possible in the Wyoming Valley as the week comes to a close, but sunshine is expected into the holiday weekend.

The National Weather Service indicated it was 58 degrees as of 6:54 a.m. at the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport, and fair skies were reported.

Areas of dense fog are possible before 10 a.m. this morning — otherwise, sunny skies are expected throughout the remainder of the day. Today’s high will be near 83.

Partly cloudy skies will carry over into tonight, with a low around 62.

Mostly cloudy skies will round out the week on Friday, and showers and thunderstorms are likely after 2 p.m. Up to a quarter of an inch of rain is possible, and the high will be near 81.

Partly cloudy skies are predicted for Friday night, and showers and thunderstorms are likely before midnight. Less than a tenth of an inch of rain is expected, and the low will be around 57.

Mostly sunny skies are predicted for Saturday, with a high near 79. Clear skies will follow into Saturday night, with a low around 57.

Sunny skies are expected on Sunday, with a high near 83. Partly cloudy skies will follow into Sunday night, with a low around 59.

Mostly sunny skies are expected for Independence Day, with a high near 85. Partly cloudy skies will follow into Monday night, with a low around 63.
