Rain, thunderstorms possible into the midweek

Rain, along with the potential for some thunderstorms, is expected in the Wyoming Valley through the midweek.

The National Weather Service indicated that it was 49 degrees as of 5:54 a.m. at the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport, with overcast skies reported.

Partly sunny skies are expected today, with a high near 71.

Mostly cloudy skies are expected tonight, with a chance of showers before midnight. Thunderstorms will also be possible between midnight and 1 p.m., followed by showers becoming likely into the early-morning hours of Tuesday. Up to a quarter of an inch of rain is possible, but more could fall in potential thunderstorms. Tonight’s low will be around 55.

Showers are likely on Tuesday, along with the possibility of thunderstorms. Up to a half an inch of rain is possible, and the high will be near 67.

Showers will continue to be likely before 8 p.m. on Tuesday night, with another quarter of an inch of rain possible. Mostly cloudy skies are expected otherwise, with a low near 41.

Sunny skies are expected to return to the Wyoming Valley on Wednesday, with a high near 60. Partly cloudy skies will carry over into Wednesday night, with a low around 39.
