Jeremy Peters graduated King’s College

WILKES-BARRE — Jeremy Peters, of Dallas, received the John P. Moses Award for Public Law at the 68th annual King’s College commencement exercises.

Peters graduated with cum laude honors and received a bachelor of arts degree in political science.

Jason Brady named to the University of New Haven’s dean’s list

WEST HAVEN, CONN. — Jason Brady, of Dallas, was named to the dean’s list at the University of New Haven for the spring 2017 semester.

Brady is a member of the university’s Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts. He is working towards a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Drawing.

Local students inducted into honor societies at Pitt-Bradford

BRADFORD — The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford recognized students inducted into its honor societies this spring during its annual Honors Convocation.

Among those who were recognized are:

Lia de Lyon, of Tunkhannock, an exercise science major, Phi Epsilon Kappa, Honors Fraternity for Sport and Exercise Science; and Kareemah Condry, of Wyoming, a biology major, Beta Beta Beta, National Biological Honor Society.

Bradley Shovlin earns degree from Loyola University

BALTIMORE, MD — Bradley Shovlin, of Dallas, earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science at Loyola University Maryland’s 165th commencement exercises May 20, at Royal Farms Arena.

Megan Leigh Hine earns a degree from Alvernia University

READING — Megan Leigh Hine, of Shavertown, earned a Master of Science in Occupational Therapy degree. Hine completed studies at main campus.

Alvernia’s graduation ceremonies on May 13 included a Baccalaureate Mass and Hooding Ceremony on main campus followed by commencement at Santander Arena.

Back Mountain students receive honors at Wyoming Seminary commencement

KINGSTON — Andrew Kim, Michael Kim and Mei Snow, all of Dallas, received honors during the 173rd commencement of Wyoming Seminary Upper School.

Brothers Andrew and Michael Kim were inducted into Cum Laude, the academic honor society for college preparatory schools.

They also were named to the dean’s list with high honors for the spring term. The brothers were awarded the President’s Educational Excellence Award.

Snow has been named to the dean’s list for the spring term.

Kutztown University degrees awarded to two Back Mountain students

KUTZTOWN — Dean Gregory, of Shavertown, and Brandon Gregory Scott, of Trucksville, earned bachelor’s degrees from Kutztown University.

Gregory earned a Bachelor of Science of Business Administration in Finance. Scott earned a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science/Software Development Magna Cum Laude at the recent commencement.

Andrew Schukraft receives Holman Religious Leadership Award

KINGSTON – Wyoming Seminary College Preparatory School graduate Andrew Schukraft, of Dallas, received the Holman Religious Leadership Award at the school’s 173rd commencement on May 28.

The Holman Religious Leadership Award is presented to the graduate most likely to assume religious leadership in the future.

Schukraft received the President’s Educational Excellence Award and the Jerry A. and Edith K. Iscovitz Memorial Good Sportsmanship Award. A son of Mr. and Mrs. Scott Schukraft, of Dallas, was also named to the dean’s list with high honors for the spring term.

Emily Laurore receives Eugene Goldstein Memorial Community Service Award

KINGSTON – Wyoming Seminary graduate Emily Laurore, of Shavertown, received the Eugene Goldstein Memorial Community Service Award in recognition of her outstanding initiative and commitment to community service, during the school’s 173rd commencement May 28.

Laurore also received the President’s Educational Excellence Award. She was named a National Merit Scholarship Commended Student and was named to the dean’s list for the spring term.

She is a daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Max Laurore of Shavertown.

Lycoming College student teacher Clara Grube shines in local classroom

WILLIAMSPORT — Clara Grube, of Trucksville, an education student at Lycoming College discussed her spring teaching experience at an open house held on campus last month.

Grube is a Mathematics major.

Shauna Phillips earns docorate degree from Widener University

CHESTER — Shauna Phillips, of Dallas, received a Doctor of Physical Therapy from the School of Human Service Professions at Widener University.

Gromel named to provost’s list

LORETTO — Carly Gromel, of Harveys Lake, has been named to the provost’s list at Saint Francis University for the summer 2017 semester. Gromel is studying Middle Childhood-Special Education.

Spencer named to dean’s list

EMMITSBURG, MD — Abigail Spencer, of Dallas, is among 607 students who earned dean’s list honors for the spring 2017 semester at Mount St. Mary’s University.

A daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Spencer Jr., Spencer is eligible for this honor by maintaining a 3.4 grade point average or higher.
