DALLAS — The Back Mountain Memorial Library will display a collection of paintings by local artist Joe Daley during the month of August.

Daley began his interest in art while he was living in Japan teaching English as a second language. Although his supplies were limited, he used “whatever I could find” and began sketching colorful Japanese pieces using ordinary colored markers. Because of his minor in graphics design and the success of his earlier work, he decided to expand his artistic talents by using acrylics. He says that his current pieces are based on an older Asian traditional Japanese design, which is hundreds of years old.

Daley, his wife Midori and their son, Joshua, live in Plymouth.

The paintings may be viewed during normal library hours, which are as follows: 9:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Friday, and 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday. The library is located at 96 Huntsville Road. Call the library for more information at 570-675-1182.
