DALLAS — Donations from the Dallas Lions Club’s recent “Hometown Heroes” ceremony resulted in a $300 donation was made to the 1st Lt. Michael J. Cleary Memorial Fund, which provides financial help to local members of the Armed Forces and their families.

This year, the club concluded the “Hometown Heroes” project in which 125 banners of service men and women were placed throughout Dallas Borough over the last five years. The banners were presented to family members at a ceremony held at the Dallas Senior High School earlier this summer.

The Dallas Lions club is presently involved in a membership campaign. Anyone, male or female, who would like to join the club is encouraged to call Membership Chairman Larry Spaciano at 570-760-9540 or any member of the club.

A community meeting is being held 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 10 at Misericordia University hosted by state Rep. Karen Bobeck. The Lions Club will be present with membership applications and the usual initial enrollment fee will be waived during this enrollment campaign.
