DALLAS — The 70th Annual Back Mountain Memorial Library Auction is less than one month away! This popular event will begin on Thursday, July 7 and continue through July 8, 9 and 10. The auction is held on the library grounds located at 96 Huntsville Road in Dallas.

The various booths will open at 5 p.m. and auction bidding over the block begins each night at 6 p.m. For ease of parking, a shuttle bus will pick up auction-goers at the Country Club Shopping Center in Dallas and provide free transportation to the library grounds, running continuously during auction hours. Limited handicapped parking is available on the library grounds.

It seems that the auction increases in popularity every year with more bargains, more great finds and of course, more attendees! With this good news in mind, the library is currently preparing its list of auction volunteers. Anyone age 12 and older is encouraged to call the library to sign up for pre-auction set-up. This year’s set-up will begin on Sunday, July 3 and continue on Tuesday, July 5 and Wednesday, July 6. Groups of individuals, including tweens needing service hours, are always welcome, as well as adults of any age. A free lunch is provided each day of the auction set-up.

The auction committee is asking cooperation from eager auction-goers to refrain from setting up chairs until after 3 p.m. Wednesday, July 6 and to stay within the designated area.

In order to prepare for the auction, the library’s Slightly Read Bookshop, will not be able to accept any book donations after Friday, June 10. The last day that the bookshop will be open prior to the auction, is Saturday, June 25. The bookshop will re-open on Monday, July 18 and will resume taking book donations at that time.

Watch the library’s website, www.backmountainlibrary.org, and Facebook page for more information on all of the above events.
