DALLAS — State Rep. Karen Boback was recently presented with her second Rotary Paul Harris Fellowship. Past Rotary District Governor Paul Muczynski presented the fellowship to Boback at a meeting of the Dallas Rtoary Club, noting her continued support of the welfare of the citizens of Pennsylvania.
In addition, Boback was able to get a House Resolution passed recognizing Rotary International’s efforts to eradicate polio from the world through a comprehensive vaccination program, making good on a promise it made in 1985.
When the campaign began, there were more than 1,000 new cases of polio every day. As of Dec. 31, 2015, there were just 70 cases in two countries. The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates the last case of the wild polio virus infection will most likely occur this year. When polio is eradicated, it will be the second disease eradicated, smallpox being the first.
