DALLAS TWP. — Wycallis Elementary School students and teachers celebrated Veterans Day by honoring military veterans close to their hearts.

Students extended a personal invitation to their family members who serve and who have served in the armed forces. Students met with their invited veterans in the school library and led them into the school assembly where they were introduced by name, military branch and rank.

Fifth-grade students spoke during a PowerPoint presentation about the armed forces and U.S. military history. The fifth-grade chorus, led by music teacher Deborah Pike, sang patriotic songs, including “God Bless America.”

The entire Wycallis Elementary School student body stood and joined the chorus to sing “Thank You, Soldiers” in a moving tribute.
