Back Mountain nurse honored by university

Columbia University School of Nursing honored Viola Ruelke Gommer, RN, BS, MSN with The Neighbors Humanitarian Distinguished Alumni Award. Gommer is a nurse who lived her life through the Nightingale Pledge for over 4o years by practicing the nursing profession faithfully and devoting herself to the welfare of those who are ill, wherever they are and whenever they are in need.
